Job Title: Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

Location: twice a week in Aberdare, South Wales

Salary: up to £50k

Vargo is recruiting for a well-established Group that is looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer. The role will be working alongside a small IT team to support this busy group of companies. Each day will be varied in nature, so will suit someone who enjoys a broad hands-on role. Although the head office is based in Aberdare, the client has sites throughout the UK, so an element of travel will be involved. When you're not onsite, there will be flexibility to work remotely. Typically that will involve one to two days onsite in Aberdare or another remote site, (travel expenses will be provided).

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

• Administer and maintain Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure, and Windows Server environments.
• Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and network services (DNS, DHCP, routers, switches, firewalls).
• Oversee Windows 10/11, Exchange Online, SharePoint, mobile devices, and end-user hardware support.
• Deploy connectivity solutions (Fiber, LTE, Starlink) and monitor networks using tools like Nagios.
• Manage IT security solutions, SSL certificates, and CCTV systems.
• Plan and execute IT projects, including system upgrades and network installations, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align infrastructure initiatives with business goals.
• Provide advanced technical support, resolving complex IT issues.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to IT strategy development.
• Manage IT budgets and perform on-site installations and maintenance as needed.
• Travel to remote locations to ensure IT service continuity.
