Group Accountant  
Cardiff, UK (Hybrid Working)  
£50-60,000 plus bonus and shares

 

Our client is a prominent financial services company in the UK. They pride themselves on a commitment to excellence, integrity, and customer satisfaction. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a skilled and dedicated Group Accountant to join their dynamic team.

The Group Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial accounting and reporting activities for the group. This role involves ensuring compliance with accounting standards, coordinating the consolidation process, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

 

Key Responsibilities

- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS/UK GAAP.
- Consolidation: Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation process, including intercompany reconciliations and adjustments.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
- SOX Compliance: Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act requirements, maintaining appropriate documentation and supporting internal and external audits related to SOX.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of group budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and identifying key financial trends.
- Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors and manage the year-end audit process, ensuring the timely resolution of any audit issues.
- Financial Analysis: Provide insightful analysis on financial performance, including trend analysis, financial ratios, and KPI reporting.
- Internal Controls: Develop and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting processes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including senior management, to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Participate in special projects as required, such as system implementations, and process improvements.

 

Qualifications and Experience

- Education: ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified Chartered Accountant.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience, either within financial services or a 'Top 10' Accountancy practice.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- SOX Experience: Demonstrated experience in Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team and independently, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Integrity: High level of integrity and ethical standards.
