Job Title: Business Development Manager
Location: Fully remote in East Staffs/Burton/Lichfield/Tamworth
Salary: up to £42k + car allowance + pension scheme + other benefits

Our client is an established commercial finance business that offers a flexible working capital solution. They have extensive experience within their market and service a broad range of industries and clients. They have recently developed a central system not only to give extra functionality to their clients, but to support the next phase of their business growth.
Vargo has been exclusively retained in order to support the recruitment of a Business Development Manager. This is a newly created role and will provide a great opportunity for a sales professional to utilise their previous experience to develop the sales function. It will suit either a Business Development Manager looking for more autonomy to develop the sales operation or a senior sales executive who is looking to take that step up into a Business Development Manager role.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain a strong referral network with bank officials, brokers, accountants, business advisers, and other intermediaries, generating new loan enquiries.
- Engage in sales activities to identify prospective clients, develop lending solutions, expand dealflow, and achieve lending targets.
- Handle and qualify initial loan enquiries efficiently.
- Meet with applicants and potential borrowers to assess needs, gather required information for appraisals, and ensure all records are accurately maintained.
- Advise potential borrowers, working with business advisors when needed, and prepare loan applications for credit review and approval.
- Analyze client data to support accurate reporting and maintain up-to-date customer records.
- Manage ongoing client relationships, including monitoring accounts, addressing defaults, and supporting the recoveries team with portfolio management.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, borrowers, and advisors, participate in work planning reviews, and contribute to strategic initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement by developing processes, participating in professional development, and contributing to strategic working groups.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, including the Performance Management Framework and Equal Opportunities Policy, and perform any other duties as required by senior management.
Requirements
- Previous sales experience within commercial finance, whether factoring, invoice discounting, asset finance or commercial banking
