Location: South Wales (Hybrid – 2-3 days onsite)

Salary: £60,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Role

As Financial Controller, you’ll lead the finance function, support strategic growth initiatives, and deliver high-quality financial insights to the Founder and investors. You’ll be a key part of a lean leadership team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own financial operations including management accounts, forecasting, budgeting and cash flow

• Produce board-level reporting and investor packs for the Founder and PE stakeholders

• Partner closely with the Founder to support strategic growth, investments, and commercial planning

• Drive financial modelling, cost analysis and scenario planning

• Ensure statutory compliance and financial governance (UK GAAP)

• Liaise with external advisors, auditors, and banks

• Build out and lead a small but growing finance team

• Implement systems, controls and processes to support scale and automation

Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)

• Strong experience in manufacturing, engineering, or a fast-growth business environment

• Experience in a PE-backed or investment-driven setting (desirable)

• Hands-on, commercially minded, and comfortable influencing at founder/board level

• Skilled in financial planning, analysis and reporting

• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and pace

Role Overview

As an Investment Director, you will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments, as well as actively managing portfolio companies. You will work closely with the investment team to identify opportunities, assess financial viability, and support companies post-investment to maximise returns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Origination & Deal Sourcing: Identify and develop high-potential investment opportunities across target sectors.

• Investment Execution: Lead the due diligence process, financial modelling, valuation, and negotiation of investment terms.

• Portfolio Management: Work closely with portfolio companies to provide strategic and financial guidance, supporting growth and scaling efforts.

• Market & Sector Research: Stay ahead of emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and sector dynamics to inform investment decisions.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with founders, co-investors, and industry experts to enhance deal flow and portfolio success.

Key Requirements:

• Investment Experience: Proven track record in venture capital, private equity, or growth investment.

• Professional Background: Must have 10+ years experience from a Big 4 firm (Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, or M&A) or a Private Equity/Venture Capital firm.

• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of financial analysis, valuations, deal structuring, and risk assessment.

• Commercial Acumen: Ability to evaluate market opportunities and drive value creation within portfolio companies.

• Leadership & Influence: Ability to work closely with founders, management teams, and co-investors to achieve strategic objectives.

• Network & Market Presence: Strong connections within the investment and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
