 Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead on designing and developing mechanical components and subsystems for automation projects
  • Ensure mechanical designs align with functional requirements and performance goals
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues within existing systems to maintain reliability and efficiency
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and operations teams to integrate and refine system functionality
  • Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture
  • Play an active role in improving engineering processes, including design standards, tools, and workflows
  • Support efforts to streamline the development lifecycle and enhance product quality

 

Requirements:

  • 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience designing and building mechanical systems for automation and handling of small components
  • Familiarity with high-speed automated systems for material transfer
  • Proficient in SolidWorks for mechanical design

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Background in designing durable, high-precision system
  • Experience with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing
  • Developed low-power automated machines or devices, such as animatronics, vending units, or automation in food/pharmaceutical production
