Job Title: Business Development Manager
Location: Remote, with occasional travel to Brecon
Salary: Up to £50k base + commission (£100k OTE)
Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing company specialising in delivering high-quality cybersecurity training solutions to public sector, government, and mid/large corporate clients. Passionate about empowering individuals and organisations to combat evolving cyber threats, the company is entering an exciting new growth phase backed by recent investment.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of the public sector and government landscape, particularly candidates with a military background (e.g., ex-Army, ex-military personnel) who can leverage their networks, discipline, and situational awareness to thrive in cyber-focused business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities in the public sector, government, and large enterprise markets.
- Leverage existing networks and contacts within defence, security, and government agencies.
- Understand and analyse client needs, pain points, and procurement processes.
- Develop and execute effective, targeted sales campaigns and engagement strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers, particularly in defence and security domains.
- Conduct persuasive product demonstrations and presentations tailored to client challenges.
- Negotiate contracts and close high-value deals.
- Accurately forecast and track sales performance against KPIs and revenue targets.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of sales processes and playbooks.
- Maintain detailed records of all sales activity in CRM systems.
- Represent the company at key industry events, conferences, and military/cyber forums.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record of success in business development or sales, ideally within the training, technology, or defence sectors.
- Background in the military or ex-armed forces experience (e.g., British Army, MoD, Defence sector) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with government frameworks, procurement cycles, and public sector sales.
- Strong understanding of pipeline management and solution-based selling.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt to both strategic and tactical business environments.
- Confidence to engage senior stakeholders and C-level executives.
- Self-motivated and mission-driven, with a commitment to achieving goals.
- Comfortable with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
Desirable:
- Experience in the cyber security, IT training, or education technology sectors.
- Knowledge of MOD, NATO, or government procurement frameworks.
- Connections or past roles in defence intelligence, training, or digital operations.
